ICEYVEIN - Interview

1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?

My Rap Name is “ICEYVEIN” I’m from savage ass Chicago.

2. What made you start making music?

Ever since I remember the question “what do you want to be?” from people in my life, I always never knew the answer, but I always knew I loved writing songs in my notebook whenever I was bored as fuck in class, or bored as fuck at home. It started out with just a form expressing myself in a way I enjoyed, but the more I did it, the more better I got at it, so I just said fuck it, let me put some of this over a beat.

3. Who are your influences in rap?

My main influence will always be the G.O.A.T. Lil Weezy, aka Mr. Carter, mainly because he’s just your favorite rappers rapper, yah feel. Also to me, he is lyrical as hell and has unique flows, styles, and bars that he was never afraid to do no matter what anybody would say, that’s what I admire most to be to be honest, just someone who doesn’t give a fuck, and just does whatever he wants. There’s also other people like Kendrick, Bones, Em, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye, they all remind me of what Wayne is, so they have a big influence in my art too.

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

I think the underground rap scene is fine, sure there is a lot of people trying to sound like someone else but that to me just shows how much one person can influence a lot with just music.

5. What are your goals for the new year regarding music?

To just keep progressing with my craft, new sounds, new flows, say shit I haven’t before, but more importantly have a music video out at least, always wanted to do one, even in the past when I tried the whole thing just fell through, but now since I'm investing more and more into this, this year seems like the right time for a video.

6. You have 1 person to thank, who would it be?

Myself, not to be selfish, but I would thank myself for really believing I could do this, I have people in my life I will always be grateful for even if we won’t ever speak again because they supported me as much they could, but I felt like never believed in me as much I do myself. Sure I have a few fans as well that tell me to never give up or keep going, shouts out to them because they respect my craft a lot, but I’ve always been my biggest supporter to be honest, no one in my family supports me either, so it really is just me believing a dream out here that I will not stop chasing.

7. What is your process for recording music ?

Basically I just have a little home studio, nothing to boujee or some to brag about, but I have everything I need to create a song or project I can be proud of. Before recording though, I already have a beat ready, and lyrics and a flow in mind, sometimes, other times I just freestyle a flow with what I wrote to just create something I’ve never done before.

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for this year?

I have a project with a really talented and unappreciated producer name “EUPHORIA” that I can’t wait to drop, which will be really soon. After that I just plan on dropping another self-made album like my last one titled “What is Pain?” which is out everywhere, go check it out if you haven’t, really proud of that joint.

9. What have you been doing music wise while in COVID times?

Mainly just trying not to stay in, even though some would say I should, but I just been working saving up, got no baby mommas over here, no big bills either, or car, which I wish I did so I could cruise on the weekends, but getting high as fuck or drunk at home on my free time with squad is still lit, car or no car.

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

Damn… getting deep with it, hmmm, if I were to think about it, I would say just the opportunity to help someone feel like they are not alone in this world with what they feel. To me, music is a language everybody relates to, and if I can make even just one person feel like they can relate to what I been or going through at the moment, that’s enough for me.

11. What's your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

“EUPHORIA” is a great producer that is a great homie to have, not just cause he can give me a free beat whenever, but homeboy chill and funny as fuck plus we relate a lot on this music shit too, since we also use it to cope with our depression. Another producer called “LastWædnesday” also is another close homie that is just talented as fuck with the beats, him and “EUPHORIA” need to collab on something for real. Also shout out people like “Prettyboycybxr” “Exodia” “Senju” and my best friend “Chyna” me and her have a song that is just absolutely one of the best songs I ever done and am really proud of, homegirl went nuts with that one.

12. Who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?

I make my own

13. Who makes most of your beats or production?

I mainly just buy beats here and there, but I have connections as well like I said, so production is not a problem to be honest,

14. What can we expect next from you ?

Some singles to promote my next projects, and features on other people’s stuff too.
