Jordan Taylor - Interview 36

1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?

I go by Jordan which is my actual name and I’m from Vancouver, Washington.

2. What made you start making music?

Music is just in my veins as my dads a radio personality as well as a lead singer/guitar in a band. We always had a jam room growing up and was always going to concerts. I grew up with that ear for music so I invested in myself and now I’m here .

3. Who are your influences in rap or beyond?

Some influences in the rap game are Lil Durk , Pnb Rock , Derez Deshon and Sy Ari Da Kid .

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

My take on the underground rap scene is that it’s huge and could really take off if people helped eachother out more ? I’m just gettin into this music and seeing the underground scene so I still have a lot more to learn about the scene and it’s people .

5. What are your goals for 2019 regarding music?

Man my goals for 2019 are endless. Now that my gun case is over I’m going crazy, “No Guarantees” EP will be droppin on all platforms ASAP, also my debut mixtape “T.R.A.P (Take Risk And Prosper) “ will be dropping on all major platforms later this year, going to be shooting music videos, photo shoots, working on getting Barely Alive Artists all living in the same state, possibly dropping some merchandise. This year going to be huge.

6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be?

I couldn’t thank just one, that wouldn’t be fair. I got to say thanks my brothers @STO540 & @Kingalivestill for pushing me to do music and being my family.

7. What is your process for recording music ?

The Process for recording music no matter where I’m at, home or in a studio is usually the same. I find a beat or have a beat already picked, I play it out loud through the speakers and just vibe. I find the melody usually just hit record and freestyle something then take that and write. Or sometimes I’ll just play the beat and write and keep playing it over and over.

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?

Upcoming projects from myself include, “No Guarantees” EP , “T.R.A.P. The Mixtape” , also getting a feature from @hisnameiskurt from Chicago, as well as working with other artists from Washington, New York, Massachusetts . Also, be on the look for anything The other Barely Alive Records Artists drop!

9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?

My favorite part of being a rapper is when people listen to my music and reply with something like “yo I feel this or you got a message or I can really relate to that” . Feels good, people are really hearing and seeing what I’m saying .

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

If I could have any impact in world with my music it be that I hope my music can help people or atleast one person. May it help them through relationships, school, bad times, whatever just as long as they can say “I turned on Jordan Taylor and that helped me get through this or that”.

11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?

My ambitions with music are a bit of both, I love music I’d do it everyday all day if I could . I’m busy juggling and full time job and a 6yr old daughter with after school activities and so forth .

12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?

Lil durk . I watched him glo up and I can really relate to a lot of his music as it helped me through a lot of things.

13. what does the music you create make you feel?

My music makes me feel excited. I got so pumped on the booth or in the car listening to it . I love that feeling man and without being cocky it boosts you confidence, I feel accomplished after a song . It’s great .

14. why is music so important and dear to your heart ?

Music is so important to me Because I’ve seen the influence and importance it has on someone. Music helped me through a lot of things in life, like when I had no one to talk to or call but I had music whether I was writing it or listening to it .

15. Taking this as a passion what works best with you for endeavors you may face (regarding to music)?

Just knowing that I’ll always have music, I could lose all my equipment but I’ll always have music there will always be a way.

16. whats your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

Just being in the studio with a producer and another artist is crazy. For example, the studio sesh with @STO540 & @CrispyAir for when we made “Get The Bag” was the most hype session, that energy that night was lit!

17. who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?

The freakin goat himself @alo42069 and he also does my engineering. Y’all get in tune with him for real !

18. who makes most of your beats or production?

Ive been working a lot with @CashMoneyAP

19. who is one artist you wish to work on music with and why?

I’ve worked with @kingalivestill but now in the same room, our energy in that studio session would be wild!

20. who is one producer you wish to work with and why?

I’d love to work with C-sick or metro boomin because their beats and work ethic is amazing.

21. do you have any upcoming shows in the next couple months ?

Working on some in Portland, OR . And trying to maybe get a house show or Two at Western Oregon University.

22. for people who havent heard of you what sets you apart from other artists?

I’d say I’m not selfish or in it for the money, and no disrespect to anyone but I’m just down to work and network. My bag is secure outside this music but doesn’t mean I ain’t as hungry as someone who struggling, cause I been there and I worked hard for this. But I’m not out to finesse artists or nobody , let’s just make some hits and see where we go!

23. at the end of the day what does music mean to you ?

Music means everything for real. I’m painting an image of myself to the world that never met or seen me.

24. does your family support you with music?

Oh yeah all my family and friends are very supportive .

25. at the end of the day when it comes to music we are in your world when listening to music by you...what type of vibe does your music bring ?

I got good vibes most the time, something you can scoop your lady up too and she be feeling it too . Also got those vibes were im hurting inside but lettin y’all know it’s ok there’s light on the other side. Last but not least I also got them trap vibes for all my people out there in the field !
