Tell us your name and a bit about yourself!

I am kinqpins, I’m 19 years old and I’m a rapper/artist out of Kirkland, Washington. Follow me on IG & Twitter @kinqpins.

What made you start making music?  What made me start making music specifically I don’t remember, I been doin this shit for hella long. Since I was way younger, some of it was watching BET or MTV a lot and seeing all the music videos of niggas partying and flexing got me interested. I was also exposed to music since I was born, it was always playing in the house and it just became part of me in a way. Being able to make something that people can relate to, Vibe to or make them feel a certain way is crazy. It’s how I express myself, I started writing back in middle school and started recording my sophomore year of high school.  Who are your influences?  I have so many influences that it’s hard to say specifically who I take after. I was first exposed to pac, biggie, the black eyed peas and Green Day. Some people say I sound like Carti, Swae lee, Uzi or even X so I guess those are some of them.  What is your take on the underground rap scene right now? The underground rap scene has so much potential and so many people it’s crazy. We just had Mosey blow up out of Seattle so now we got some eyes finally watching it feels like. There’s a lot of untouched talent here that people don’t realize. I thought Juice The God was finna make it big first but sadly he got taken before that fully happened (R.I.P). But yea, dope to be a part of this generation of artists.  What are your goals for 2019 regarding music?  For 2019 I have so much shit planned, I don’t know where to start. Even just the last few weeks of 2018 I’m tryin to make something happen and drop some new shit for people. But 2019 I’m going full sicko and really trynna push a lot of content out to fans.  You have 1 person to thank who would it be?  Probably God, cause even though he made a nigga with a crazy mind he made a nigga with crazy passion and a crazy artistic value. There’s a lot of people who have supported me along the way too to where I am now and told me to keep going so shoutout them too. That’s love.  What is your process for recording music ?  My process is that I don’t have just one process. Sometimes I write to beats or sometimes I just want to see how I sound on something my producer just finished and I’ll make a whole dope song on that. Sometimes I just feel when something can be lit and I build off that, I try to keep it as organic as possible cause when you try to force a hit or something it doesn’t always go well.  Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?  Definitely got something comming hopefully before the new year, within the next few weeks.  Stay tuned to all my social media’s and all that cause I always keep people updated if I’m close to dropping something.  What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?  My favorite part of being what I am, being a rapper/artist is knowing there’s people who love my music and support me. Being able to free my mind, be unique and different and have people fuck with it and push me farther. Doing what I love and being able to make money doing it is the best feeling, I haven’t done shows yet but imma really go crazy once I get comfortable performing. I live for this shit. It’s been my dream to be really successful, not just living to make it by. Living to really live life, I’m not the type to let my dreams pass me by. If your not chasing something what the fuck are you here for? Fuck a 9-5 or a ‘normal’ job. I’m trying to retire at 40. Maybe earlier. Just because your alive doesn’t mean your living.  What impact do you want to have on the world?  I want to be able to leave some kind of mark, most of my music is meant to make you feel good or make you vibe, and hopefully that changes somebodies life, even just their day. If somebodies had a shitty day I want my music to help them feel good and get hyped up. Cause music always helps me when I’m going through the toughest times, if I can change even one persons outlook then I’ve succeeded. If they look at me and say if this nigga can do it then so can I, and they succeed, that’ll start a whole new wave of talent. That’s what we always need. We always need people looking to make an impact in this world.

What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?

It started as a hobby or something I did lowkey, people thought it was just a kids dream like being an astronaut. but the want to do it was always there no matter how much time passed. I guess it’s still considered a hobby to some people but I’m really serious about taking myself far with it, it’s always been my lifestyle. And other people see that. But more recently, since last year, it’s really become a big part of my day to day life. I’m always thinking of the next release or time I can make to get in the studio, I always hate being away from the booth for too long it makes me anxious.

Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?

My favorite artist? That’s a hard one, there’s so many different artists that I think are dope. I don’t have one specific favorite, Xs album just dropped, and he was so versatile but he’s gone now. R.I.P, still not over that shit. Kendrick is like my favorite overall long term artist right now just because he always drops something that kills everybody when he finally does. But niggas like Kodak, lil baby and Uzi are really killing it right now too. It’s hard to just name one without a few others comming into conversation, I listen to a lil of everybody.

All I got left to say is stay tuned, definitley stay tuned. I got big things planned you don’t want to miss.
