Lil Raceway - Interview 17

1. Tell us your name and a bit about yourself!

My name's Liam I was born in Italy but moved to Las Vegas when I was 1. Been in and out of Vegas for 17 years lived in Cali, Tampa, and San Antonio. In Roanoke VA now w/ my girlfriend and 1 year old boy.

2. What made you start making music?

A couple of my friends would frequently make music for fun at their home studio when we were 14 and I wanted to be apart of it cause I had been writing for a couple years before I met em but never really recorded. When Christian passed away we decided to really go hard w/ the shit.

3. Who are your influences?

Immortal technique will always be the goat imo. But around the time I began recording I was really into SGP, seshollowaterboyz, liluglymane, ruben slikk, black kray & everybody remotely affiliated with them. They led me to people like 5 finger posse and Syringe.

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

I think it's great that alot of people I've liked for years are getting the exposure they deserve.  I know they inspire hella people that are on my level to do more and be creative.  That being said, I do think there's alot of corny mfs giving soundcloud and the deep underground scene a bad rep.

5. What are your goals for 2019 regarding music?

Setting expectations often leads to disappointment. However Ill probably end up putting out 2-3 EPs with a few singles in between. Also a few new producers I'd love to work with like Grimm doza & STILL. Theres a couple I'll consistently work with like landfill (Syringe) and Reptilian God Mana.

6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be?

Thomas Sipan, lil Honda were a great duo and he got me to start rapping.

7. What is your process for recording music ?

Basically just plan out when to stop and come back in. I dub everything at least once. Then just take a couple minutes to think of ad-libs.

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?

Pessimystic ep coming soon it's got a good variety of instrumentals that I can fully display versatility on. Nothing really planned for afterwards most likely more singles I've got enough material for two EP's though as of right now.

9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?

Expressing myself and seeing what I can do with beats I really enjoy. I've never expressed myself as well as most people so it gives me an opportunity to do so.

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

I ain't really tryna have an impact on the world. Just want to be another artist that people fuck with I guess.

11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?

Definitely just a hobby at this point but if it gets to where I can do it full time doing shows and making clothes and all that shit I'm ready to make the transition.

12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?

Gotta go with Bones. He's been a legend to me for years and his versatility is unmatched. Certain songs bring back good memories of home but also bad ones (which isn't necessarily all that bad).

13. Anything else you have to say?

don't let nobody steer you away from what your passionate about. Unless it's like.. human trafficking or something. then you got a problem & need to reevaluate your life. Peep my last 2 tracks and give me a follow I need more people to entertain -
