Nfonji Maze - Interview

1. Tell us your name and where are you from?

Nfonji Maze is my stage name, and I am from Cameroon.

2. What made you start making music?

Music is my passion, it brings out the best in me, and growing up in a family were singing was cherished, I followed my calling. 

3. Who are your influences?

Well, I would say the people around me, both in and out of the music industry, it's not about the person but the music.

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now? 

I think it is a world to explore, where everything is possible.

5. What are your goals for 2020 regarding music? 

Well, I have a lot of projects I am working on, so my goal would be to get my music out there, grow my audience, and be able to touch lives through my music.

6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be? 

I would thank my manager for always believing in me and pushing me forward.

7. What is your process for recording music ? 

Melodies, that's my base. When a melody begins to play in my head, I repeat over and over till I get the perfect emotions for it, then I write the lyrics to fit the melodies and emotions which go with it, when it's finalised, I sing it over and over to get in harmony with the song, after this I take to the studio for recording in all confidence. 

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for? 

Yes of course, I am presently working on a single titled "Ya pas rattrapage" which I will be releasing soon.

9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper? 

My favorite part about being a musician is when I record songs and when I am on stage sharing that special connection with the audience.

10. What impact do you want to have on the world? 

I want to spread love, happiness, unity, and hope, be able to live their experiences, let them know that we are in this together, and I hope to achieve this through my music.

11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying? 

Of course it is my 24/7 livestyle, it is who I am.

12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why? 

Nicki Minaj, I just love her consistency.

13. what does the music you create make you feel?

It makes me feel like I can be myself, I can connect with people, I can reach out to the world, and all of this makes me feel fulfilled.

14. why is music so important and dear to your heart ?

My music is who I am, I put myself out to world through my music, I feel I have to give back to the world what has been given to me by God almighty.

15. Taking this as a passion what works best with you for endeavors you may face (regarding to music)? 

I stand steadfast to everything, I never give up on myself and what I believe in.

16. whats your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

It's always a joy to work with others and produce something special, my best collaboration was with a renowned producer in my country called Ekie Bozeur, I literally dreamt of that day for ages and when it finally happened I was so happy and to top it off, we produced some really amazing songs. I also look forward to working with alot of artists and producers nationally and internationally.

17. who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?

My cover art is done by Chrisco Fon Arts.

18. who makes most of your beats or production? 

Most of my beats and production are done by Ediprobeatz. 

19. who is one artist you wish to work on music with and why?

Wow, the list is long, but I will name Locko because I connect with his songs, I love his flow and his energy.

20. who is one producer you wish to work with and why?

Wow another long list here, but i'll wish to work with Salatiel because he is not only very talented but he coaches and guides you on the whole production process.

21 do you have any upcoming shows in the next couple months ?

Well I don't have any shows planned for now, but then very exciting packages are kept in store for you all.

22 for people who havent heard of you what sets you apart from other artists?

My diversity is my unique identity, I am that artist who will keep you glued to my playlist.

23 at the end of the day what does music mean to you ?

Music is everything, that connection, who we are, our experiences, our lives, music is food for the soul.

24. Any live shows or projects you got coming up? 

Will be releasing a single soon, and many other surprises are yet to come, so why not join me on this journey.
