Nimbus Nine - Interview
1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?
1A. My name is Nimbus Nine and I’m from Freeport, New York (Long Island)
2. What made you start making music?
2A. I needed a healthy way to express myself as a young kid. My pops is from Brooklyn and was affiliated with Wu Tang in the 90s / Early 2000s so I was always around music as a baby. He made me write my first rhyme at age 11, from there it was apart of me.
3. Who are your influences?
3A. My early influences vary from artists like 2pac Wu tang, 50 cent, & Eminem to rock bands like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Three Days Grace, Sum41, Korn, ETC. I Find inspiration everywhere nowadays though.
4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?
4A. It’s beautiful. We’re in a generation where unfortunately It is OVER saturated, but the artists truly have the power instead of the labels now. Also anyone can make music, before rap was only for thugs & gangstas.
5. What are your goals for 2019 regarding music?
5A. I just want to drop a few more visuals and singles before the year ends. Also interact with new artists and supporters everyday. 2020 is going to be futuristic for my music though.
6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be?
6A. My mother. I put her through so much and she’s the only one that’ll always have my back. I don’t owe any one shit but I owe the world to my mother if I make anything out of myself.
7. What is your process for recording music ?
7A. It all starts with beat selection which is hella important. I’ll either make the beat myself or more often hit up or work personally with my producer to find a fire sound. After I have a beat I let the flow come out naturally, whatever comes out comes out. Once I have a solid I just add words to bring it to life, sometimes I freestyle though.
8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?
8A. You should always be ready because there’s no telling what I’ll do next. I just dropped a 4 track ep called AstralTrapVol.2, it’s on all platforms check it out. I consistently drop music though so just get ready and stay ready.
9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?
9A. The best part of it is hearing something in your head or having a vision and bringing it to life. Also just giving people something they can feel. Recreating that feeling you got from your favorite music that you related to on a soul level.
10. What impact do you want to have on the world?
10A. I just want to show people of all ages that anything is possible. I want to give a voice to those who can’t articulate or express themselves. I want to represent something bigger than myself and my own music. I will lead the youth in the right direction instead of misleading them like most rappers. I’m here to guide them.
11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?
11A. Honestly it’s a hobby. I make music for the art of it not the lifestyle but I’m passionate about it and know where it can take me if I eat, sleep, and breathe this shit. I do so many other things though, I’m not a rapper I’m an artist. Music is just my first love so I’ll never stop, it’s apart of me.
12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?
Zillakami. It’s refreshing to hear something so chaotic. I hate sad boy music. I like something that makes me want to move and go crazy. Also his style is dope.
13. what does the music you create make you feel?
13A. It all depends on my mood. I can make something melodic or something aggressive. It’s all just a mirror of what I’m feeling inside. Most people say my music puts them in a trance-like state. It usually makes them feel hyped up or like they’re on drugs. My music personally makes me feel really excited though.
14. why is music so important and dear to your heart ?
14A. I love music because it can take your pain away or give you pleasure. Everybody listens to music, it’s vibration. Everything is vibrating so it’s just as important as existing in my eyes. Life without music would be dry as hell.
15. Taking this as a passion what works best with you for endeavors you may face (regarding to music)?
15A. Keeping a positive mindset, or at least trying your best. You may have minor set backs or obstacles with your endeavors but it’s all apart of the process.
16. whats your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?
16A. I love working with my boy @SwankBeats I watched him become a beast in under a year. The experience is always litt because everything is authentic and original. We link up, he creates the beats while I find a flow and write lyrics, then we mix n master everything. It feels best to collab with someone in person.
17. who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?
17A. I have made 90% of my own cover art to be honest. I dabble with photography and love to edit photos and videos so I have fun making any type of visual.
18. who makes most of your beats or production?
18A. I’ve worked with A LOT of producers and I still do. I love creating sounds with different people because everyone has a different style. I have my go-to producers that I’ll always work with, but I don’t mind working with new producers.
19. who is one artist you wish to work on music with and why?
19A. I’d love to work with Tyler The Creator. He’s just so weird and unorthodox I think we would make something crazy. I’d try to get him to make some mosh type shit.
20. who is one producer you wish to work with and why?
20A. I’d love to work with Pierre Bourne. He really created his own style and his beats are unique. Also his music is just as good as his production which I respect.
21 do you have any upcoming shows in the next couple months ?
21A. I actually don’t but I put on a crazy show if anyone needs talent for booking.
for people who havent heard of you what sets you apart from other artists?
22A. Well I rather the people tell me, but I don’t really have a style. I’m versatile, I think I can make almost any kid of music out there. Also I’ve gotten that my vocal presence is unique and that you can tell it’s me when I’m on the track.
23 at the end of the day what does music mean to you ?
23A. It means whatever you want it to mean. Music is different for everyone. In my opinion though, music is emotion.
24. Any live shows or projects you got coming up?
