SIAHhighashell - interview

1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?

My name is SIAHhighashell and I’m from Santa Rosa, CA

2. What made you start making music?

I’ve always been involved with the music scene since I was a youngin, my parents were performers so I spent a lot of time at heavy metal shows, learnin instruments myself. When I was about 16 or 17 is when I found my talent for hip hop music and started recording music in the car with the homies

3. Who are your influences?

I wrote my first rap the day the Jacka died, I had some ties to some of the Figgaz back then and that shit really hit me and influenced me to write how I felt about the world. Other than that the underachievers really hit me when I was growin up, same with ASAP mob, azizi Gibson, and Mac Miller I feel I relate with the most

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

The underground scene right now goes back and forth for me, I feel like there is so much talent but it’s being washed by the people who don’t have the passion or nothin they just do it for the bitches or the clout. I really relate with the mfs who are timeless, and would do it even if no one was watchin. Also I feel like it’s hard to connect with all the fake love an everyone trying to come up on eachother I feel the best way is just to do you and hope motherfuckers feel you, real recognize real

5. What are your goals for 2020 regarding music?

This year my goal was to get some features that I’ve been wanting for the last 2 years an I finally got em I got em just chillin In the vault so mfs just gotta let me know when they want em 🤷‍♂️ Otherwise I’m tryna release these 2 projects I got planned an hopefully more

6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be?

I gotta say my moms I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her she support the hell out of me an her and my pops taught me the ropes to the music scene growin up so yea

7. What is your process for recording music ?

Damn man it’s always been different for me, most of the time I sit down and I make the beat, and while I’m makin it flows come to mind and I just start writing along. Other times if someone else sends me a beat i just try to think of the hardest way to start a song to this beat and I go from there. I’ve wrote songs in 10 min an I’ve wrote songs that took days to write so I gotta say it really depends on how I’m feelin

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?

Yo so I got an EP releasing soon, “PANDEMIC”, no release date yet we just got it 100% finished today, but it’s a teaser for a mixtape I got coming out with features from BIGBABYGUCCI, SlimeDollaz, Lil Xelly and more so stay up to date I let people know what’s going on a daily basis so keep up on social Media and be ready

9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?

Honestly I love making music that I want to listen to myself, making a song and hearing it back like “wow I did that” is the most satisfying thing. Also I would say being able to interact with other artist and fans I love talking about music with people and what it does for them so always feel free to reach out and see what’s going on

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

Ultimately I need people to understand that they can do whatever it is that they want in the world. Whether if it’s making music or tattooing your face whatever don’t let your parents decide what’s right and wrong for you, don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life because that’s the only way you will learn, and it’s the only life you got

11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?

This is my life, music is my life it has been since I was a child. No matter if I’m popular or what, this is what I’ll be doing til I die. I make music for myself and I’m glad to have people around that support and enjoy my music too

12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?

I don’t have a favorite artist specifically, I mostly listen to my own music or just redhot chili peppers or System of a Down and whatnot but if I had to choose one in the rap game ide say ghostmane, there’s no one like him

13. what does the music you create make you feel?

I get hyped when I listen to my music I Love ridin in the car slappin SIAH, I feel the future in my hand if that makes sense.

14. why is music so important and dear to your heart ?

I grew up with parents as heavy metal performers, my dad and uncle are in the heavy metal hall of fame book I’ve always felt this is just what I was supposed to do, become a performer. But it’s become more than that to me, it’s the only way I can get out how I feel about things and be satisfied with the outcome. I’m honestly not that comfortable with performing but if a Crowd wanted me there I would be there in a heartbeat

15. Taking this as a passion what works best with you for endeavors you may face (regarding to music)?

I just keep trying to remind myself not to worry about what everyone else is doing, all it does is demotivate your and make you feel like you’re not as good. I say just keep your head up and move forward

16. whats your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

I love this one track I make with SLAyT (@fvckslayt) I made the beat for it and sent it to him and he knew it was the one. It’s called “Fuck the Fame” it’s available everywhere but me and him send stuff back an forth all the time I love working with him.
