TeaYaMay - Interview

1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?

My artist name is TeaYaMay and I’m from Denver CO

2. What made you start making music?

It was a good outlet for me. Growing up i didn’t have a lot of people to talk to so I used music and poetry as a way to vent.

3. Who are your influences in rap?

Nas, Missy Elliot , Queen Latifah

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

I feel like the music itself could be more creative and hip hop in general is a dangerous sport, it’s not for the weak hearted. You need to have good security and thick skin to be successful.

5. As an artist who has to compete with thousands of others for streams/plays, what makes your music worth people clicking on?

I think what sets me apart is the fact I’m way more lyrical then a lot of other female artists., I have substance. I don’t use my body to promote or sell my music

6. You have 1 person to thank, who would it be?

It would be Young Fait, he’s helped me in so many ways from the business side of things to the studio, he’s incredible.

7. What is your process for recording music ?

I have to set the vibe right. When i record i have to be in the right headspace. From there just hit the booth and go crazy

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for this year?

I actually have a few things in the works. I’m looking for new producers to work with on my upcoming project entitled “Emotionally Naked” , a few singles , features, and potentially a mixtape

9. What keeps you motivated and on path towards your goals for music?

The over saturation of the industry with the same music, same style, same formula, same rappers rapping about the same things motivates me. I’m lyrical and my music shows it, I’m creative and the world needs that. The world needs different and I feel I’m that difference.

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

I want to show the world lyrical female rappers do exist. Females don’t need sex to sell their music, intelligence is key.

11. What's your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

I’d have to say Young Fait. Anytime I’m on a track with him it’s fire. We bring out the best of each other’s creativity.

12. Who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?

I make my own. I like exercising my creativity whenever I can whether it’s through music , video editing or art. Any chance I get to be creative I’m happy.

13. Who makes most of your beats or production?

I’m still looking for people to work with to bring out my sound all the way. So if you’re reading this and feel up to the job google TeaYaMay and find me everywhere, thanks in advance.

14. What can we expect next from you in 2022?

Definitely new music. The grind never stops and the movement never stops regardless of what year it is
