Vic Freeze - Interview

1. Tell us your rap name and where are you from?

VIC FREEZE from Toronto, Ontario

2. What made you start making music?

I've always loved music, and I grew up around it. Not to mention A LOT of my family are musicians.

3. Who are your influences?

Musically, My biggest influences are Jay-Z, Nas, J. Cole, Kendrick, Wiz, & Pharrell Williams

4. What is your take on the underground rap scene right now?

I think its in a good space to birth the next wave. There's so many artists doing so many different things now, I believe its really just a matter of time.

5. What are your goals for 2019 regarding music?

Keep perfecting my craft, put out a few more singles, and find a studio to call home or put one in the house.

6. You have 1 person to thank who would it be?

My momma. She's my rock! Whenever I need that kick in the ass in the right direction, I know where to go.

7. What is your process for recording music ?

Depends on my mood. I might hear a beat, come up with a verse and build off of that, or make the chorus first, and then work on the rest of the song later.

8. Any upcoming projects or singles fans should be getting ready for?

I got a new song dropping in the coming weeks called Kingdom Come Produced by my guy Aver Beats, and my first solo tape drops early next year

9. What is your favorite part about being an artist/musician/rapper?

The reactions I get from my friends, family, and fans make it all worth it. I mean I love the fact that as an artist, I can express myself fully with little to no filter, but no matter how im feeling, as soon as people start tuning into what im saying, it makes me feel good to know that people are hearing what I gotta say.

10. What impact do you want to have on the world?

I wanna spark change in people! I realized people nowadays are so lazy and everybody just expects shit to happen like thats how the world works. I wanna show people it dont matter what you look like or where you come from, as long as you're grinding towards your goals, you'll achieve it.

11. What are your ambitions with music is this just a hobby or is this a full blown 24/7 lifestyle your embodying?

At first, It was just a hobby. Me and my boys would literally smoke ourselves stupid and freestyle over beats FOR HOURS! But I honestly cant see myself doing anything else.

12. Who is your favorite artist in the rap game right now and why?

DaBaby! Hands down! Everything he puts out is a BOP thats why lol

13. what does the music you create make you feel?

The music I create reflects my environment directly, and lets me know I can turn struggle into poetry. My music gives me hope that everything will get better as long as I keep pushing.

14. why is music so important and dear to your heart ?

I grew up under a Rastafarian dad and My mom was the biggest R&B head so I was always listening to something. Music has always been a main aspect in our life.

15. Taking this as a passion what works best with you for endeavors you may face (regarding to music)?

Remembering who I am and why I do it. As long as I keep those things in mind, I know I'll achieve what Im trying to accomplish.

16. whats your best collaboration experience with another artist or producer?

I did a project called FLVKKXRELLY (pronounced flacko-relly) with one of my boys and we released it in September of 2019. All in all, It was our first project and im really proud of how it came together. It cam be found on ALL PLATFORMS!

17. who does all of your cover art or do you make your own?

I usually do my own cover art because im terrible at communicating my creative ideas to other creatives. Thats probably why I started making my own beats because it just became a hassle of telling somebody what I want out of a beat.

18. who makes most of your beats or production?

As of right now, Aver Beats makes most of my beats, and he's done ALL of my engineering. Going forward, I'd like to get more hands on with it.

19. who is one artist you wish to work on music with and why?

Tunechi or Kid Cudi just because I think either the collab would just be DOPE, or they'd be able to bring the best art out of me. All I bumped in high school was Cudi, Weezy, and Wiz.

20. who is one producer you wish to work with and why?

Pharrell Williams! I've watched every interview i could find jus to find out how he thinks about certain things or how to go about certain things. I think he'd get the best music outta me and help me hit places outside of my comfort zone

21 do you have any upcoming shows in the next couple months ?

Not at the moment, we are working on shows and events for 2020, but if anything comes up, it'll pop up on my IG or Twitter.

22 for people who havent heard of you what sets you apart from other artists?

Work ethic and determination. When I started making music, I had no clue what I was doing. Fast forward about 2 years and im producing, engineering, writing, getting into marketing and promotion etc.... You're not going to find too many people who want it more than me and it shows in my work ethic and in my music.

23 at the end of the day what does music mean to you ?

Music means freedom to me. Freedom to express yourself, freedom to expell anger and frustrations, freedom to be whoever you want to be.

24. Any live shows or projects you got coming up?

I dont have anything planned at the moment in terms of shows. I got 2 tapes dropping in 2020, and we're trying to set up shows in other countries.
